“Today’s techniques and processes are helping manufacturers to run more simulations, and faster. “A 3D model with relevant simulation software can significantly cut physical testing, sometimes even eliminating it completely,” says John Buchowski, vice president of Creo product management at PTC. “And in some industries, such as large-scale construction equipment of aerospace, simulation is the only real alternative because you simply cannot build a complete prototype to physically test. Virtually every aspect of product design and testing can be simulated. That appeals to manufacturers because it saves time, cuts cost, and prevents mistakes; physical prototyping and testing that once took six weeks can be simulated in a matter of minutes.”
