In his recent TED Talk (see the video at 3h.19m.30s), Dutch architect Kas Oosterhuis said he is neither retro nor futuristic in his designs. He says that’s because he “wants to work with the technology and emotions of today.”
For Oosterhuis, the technology of today means parametric modeling. With parametric modeling, designers and architects are no longer held to straight lines and right angles, but rather can work in curves and uneven lines. Oosterhuis applies parametric design tofurniture, smartphone cases, and civil engineering.
We talked about how parametric modeling is helping redefine architecture in the 21st centurypreviously. In this episode of The Product Design Show, see how Oosterhuis’ company ONL Architects makes use of light and reflection in its most recent designs–all created with the help of Creo Parametric.
