Tour de Technology

Prius-Project-011-Week-101
The Tour de France, cycling’s grandest race, is now complete for 2011. Winner Australian Cadel Evans cruised onto the Champs Elysees fulfilling a dream that had eluded him several times.
For 98 years the event has been a test of physical endurance and mental will. If Toyota breaks through with its Prius Project then the latter may take on a whole new meaning.
In her bicycling.com blog Caitlin Giddings writes about the mind-controlled bike. Working in partnership with Parlee Cycles, the auto giant is designing an EEG powered helmet that will shift gears through brain wave transmissions. Although labeled “conceptual,” the technology is quite advanced. Mental dexterity may soon take on new importance as competitors visualize the lead position on the famed Parisian boulevard.
