PlanetPTC Live 2012

PlanetPTC Live
PlanetPTC Live returns this year to Orlando, June 3-6. The PlanetPTC Live team has just announced that registration is open and the 2012 agenda, with over 200 sessions, is available for browsing. To better understand this event and what Creo users can expect to find I talked with Deb Shapiro, Conference Content Manager for PlanetPTC Live.
Lindsey Christensen: For those who are not familiar with the event, can you quickly tell us what PlanetPTC Live is and what attendees can find there?
Deb Shapiro: PlanetPTC Live is PTC’s premier annual conference. It’s really THE educational and networking event of the year for the PTC community. In 4 days you’re going to find anything and everything you need to know about PTC technology and solutions plus how to use them in the most effective way.
LC: Who should attend PlanetPTC Live?
DS: Anyone! Well, anyone that wants to improve the way their products are created and serviced, implement PTC technology more effectively, improve their PTC technology skills or learn how other organizations are succeeding.
LC: That’s a lot of different objectives! How can you accomplish delivering relevant content to everyone?
DS: Yes, that’s a real challenge but we worked closely with PTC executives, technology leaders and product managers as well as with the PTC/USER organization to bring the right content to all attendees.
Our goal is to make sure that, regardless of your area of work, the event provides value and covers the topics that are important to you and for your career. No matter the product you use or your role within the organization, you’ll find educational sessions, in-depth training and multiple networking opportunities tailored to your needs.
LC: What does the agenda of a typical PlanetPTC Live day look like?
DS: We have keynote presentations where we present topics of interest to all audiences such as the latest PTC news, vision and strategy, as well as some presentations from customer organizations. Attendees can also choose from more than 200 breakout sessions that include customer case studies, product updates, solutions sessions and best practices. You can also attend 3 PTC University 2-hour seminars that are available at no additional cost.
During the day you have also opportunities to network with your peers, through formal meetings, the Expo Hall, or hold your own meetings. Each evening we will host an event that includes receptions and other social gatherings that are the perfect way to either unwind or continue networking.
LC: This year’s event is happening in Orlando. Can we expect anything new?
DS: Absolutely! There are some very cool new things this year. The first one is a new tool, called “Connect Portal,” that will allow registrants to search other event attendees by specific criteria and connect with them before the event starts. They can send messages to other attendees, schedule onsite meetings or start discussing particular topics.
We also have the PlanetPTC Live group in the PlanetPTC community. Here attendees (and non attendees) will have access to customer and PTC session abstracts, will be able to raise topics or ask their event related questions and receive the very latest event news.
LC: Sounds like Networking is a big focus this year!
DS: Yes. At the Las Vegas event many customers told us, either in hall conversations, or thru the satisfaction surveys, that networking is at the top of the list of reasons to attend. We have listened to them and have expanded the networking offering. By the way, these expanded networking opportunities aren’t only happening before the event. Onsite, attendees will find more offerings this year, like an additional networking breakfast or a Networking lounge where they can hold their own conference meetings.
LC: What about the Creo audience specifically. What can they look forward to at PlanetPTC Live 2012?
DS: Well, I can walk you through an exhaustive list of over 100 Creo-specific activities or give you a quick summary
LC: Let’s go with the summary.
DS: Creo customers will get:
  • More than 50 best practice, case study and product roadmap & update sessions dedicated to Creo
  • Over 60 training sessions to choose from The opportunity to experience and influence the latest Creo products in the User Experience Lab
  • Access to PTC’s Creo development team, ready to discuss the Creo roadmap, etc.
  • PTC and partners demonstrating Creo at their booths and PTC Pavillion in the Solutions Expo
  • Dedicated sessions to answer questions about migrating, upgrading, maintenance changes, and so on.
LC: How can people find out more about PlanetPTC Live in Orlando?
DS We have a dedicated website where you can find a lot more about the four-day event including location, schedules, agendas, registration, pricing, you name it. Most importantly, check out the Session Browser where you can take a look at all the sessions for this year.
LC: Is registration open already?
DS: Yes. And I recommend visiting the registration page on our event website. We’re offering a number of special rates - for those registering early – before March 19, for groups (3 or more employees from the same organization), and for those employed by the Government or Higher Education. Thanks for the time Lindsey and I look forward to meeting everyone in Orlando in June!
